The days “of merla” - I giorni “della merla”

They are the last days of January and, second a legend, they are coldest of the winter.
Perhaps the mrs. who yesterday travelled on this bus, does not believe or she does not know this legend, because she wore the colors of the spring.
From yesterday, for me, these will be the days of the “mrs. spring”.

Sono gli ultimi giorni di gennaio e, secondo una leggenda, sono i più freddi dell'inverno.
Forse la signora che ieri viaggiava su questo bus, non crede o non conosce questa leggenda, perchè indossava i colori della primavera.
Da ieri, per me, questi saranno i giorni della "signora primavera".

This is the net of a window that is found on the wall of the cemetary of “the not catholic” saying also “of English”
Questa è la rete di una finestra che si trova sul muro del cimitero "acattolico" detto anche "degli inglesi".


Behind this wall many persons, also important, died to Rome ( Goehte, Shelley, Gramsci, Keats,… ) but that not being catholic, they could not be buried within them it walls of the city….!
Dietro questo muro riposano tante persone, anche importanti morte a Roma ( Goehte, Shelley, Gramsci, Keats, ... ) ma che non essendo cattoliche, non potevano essere sepolte dentro le mura della città....!

I can imagine who, behind that window, still sleeps, unconscious of the quiet beauty of the night.
Posso immaginare chi , dietro quella finestra, ancora dorme, inconsapevole della quieta bellezza della notte.

Trans Tiberim.

Its name comes from the Latin trans Tiberim, meaning literally "beyond the Tiber".

By the time of the Republic, the number of sailors and fishermen making a living from the river had increased, and many had taken up residence in Trastevere. Immigrants from the East also settled there, mainly Jews and Syrians.
The area began to be considered part of the city under Augustus, who divided Rome into 14 regions (regiones in Latin); modern Trastevere was the XIV and was called Trans Tiberim.


Il relativo nome viene dal latino trans Tiberim, significante letteralmente “oltre in Tevere„.

In età repubblicana, le zone vicino al fiume si popolarono di quei lavoratori che avevano a che fare con il fiume, come marinai e pescatori, e ci fu una grande affluenza di immigrati orientali, principalmente ebrei e siriani. Per questo nella zona sorsero alcuni templi di culti orientali
La zona ha cominciato ad essere considerata parte della città sotto Augusto, che divise Roma in 14 regioni (regiones in Latino); l'attuale Trastevere era la quattordicesima ed era chiamata regio transtiberina.

Still a nocturnal image (the part of the day that I prefer). The buildings of this zone (Vatican) have great fascination: they are almost all ex - convents turned into hotel structures.

Ancora un'immagine notturna (la parte del giorno che preferisco). Gli edifici di questa zona (Vaticano) hanno grande fascino: sono quasi tutti ex-conventi trasformati in strutture alberghiere.

La notte , come un libro dei desideri, una pagina bianca dove ognuno può scrivere ciò che vuole, e in lungo giorno, per vederlo svanire.
The night, like a book of the desires, a white page where everyone can write what wants, and a long day, to see vanish it.

Decorations

Tradizionalmente questo è il tempo dove, nelle case, vengono tolte le decorazioni di natale. Tutto torna ne nella proprie scatole, pronto per essere usato il prossimo anno. La natura, invece, ha altri tempi, e porterà le sue decorazioni per molti giorni ancora


Traditionally this is the time where, in the houses, they come removed the Christmas decorations. All it returns some in own boxes , the ready one for being used the next year. The nature, instead, has other times, and will still carry its decorations for many days.

The Epiphany - La Befana

This is Navona square.
It is still night.
The vendors wait for that make day in order to begin to sell all that one is necessary for the festivity of the Epiphany feast.
According to the tradition the night between the 5 and 6 January an old lady (the Befana) comes down from the sky (to horse of one broom) and door gives to the good children and coal to those bad ...you how!

E' ancora notte.
I venditori aspettano che faccia giorno per iniziare a vendere tutto quello occorre per la festa della Befana.
Secondo la tradizione la notte tra il 5 e il 6 gennaio una vecchia signora (la Befana) scende dal cielo (a cavallo di una scopa) e porta regali ai bambini buoni e carbone a quelli cattivi...come voi!
