M.AGRIPPA FECIT !!!

The temple of the Pantheon in Rome was built on the area of the "Campo Marzio", where, according to an antique tradition, the founder of city, Romulus, would have reached the sky.
The written one says:"
"M.Agrippa L.F.Cos. Tertium Fecit" – "It was built by Marco Agrippa, son of Lucio, consul for the third time".

Il Pantheon di Roma venne eretto sull'area del Campo Marzio, dove, secondo un'antica tradizione, il fondatore della città, Romolo, sarebbe asceso al cielo.
La scritta dice:
M.Agrippa L.F. Cos.Tertium Fecit" – "Lo costruì Marco Agrippa, figlio di Lucio, console per la terza volta".





In 609 A.D. this temple was given by Emperor Foca to Pope Bonifacio IV and changed into a church, as it is looked in this ancient press of 1600

Nel 609 il tempio fu donato dall'imperatore Foca a papa Bonifacio IV e fu trasformato in chiesa, come si vede in questa stampa antica del 1600.

Fountain of the Big Mask - Fontana del Mascherone

This rather bizarre fountain was made in 1626 by combining two ancient sculptures. It was commissioned by the Farnese family.
Is named the, for obvious reasons.

Questa fontana piuttosto bizzarra è stata fatta nel 1626 unendo due sculture antiche, su incarico della famiglia di Farnese.
E’ chiamata la fontana del mascherone, per ovvi motivi.




The bathtub of collection the water , and the big mask (in marble) from whose mouth gushes out the water, is of roman age.
In 1720, when Marcantonio Zondadari was elect 65° Master of the Order of Malta, the fountain threw wine to the place of the water for many hours of continuation

Fountain of Farnese plaza – Fontana di Piazza Farnese

This is one of the two fountains, realized in 1626 with two great bathtubs coming from ancient Egypt, than they are found in Farnese plaza.

Trans Tiberim.

Its name comes from the Latin trans Tiberim, meaning literally "beyond the Tiber".

By the time of the Republic, the number of sailors and fishermen making a living from the river had increased, and many had taken up residence in Trastevere. Immigrants from the East also settled there, mainly Jews and Syrians.
The area began to be considered part of the city under Augustus, who divided Rome into 14 regions (regiones in Latin); modern Trastevere was the XIV and was called Trans Tiberim.


Il relativo nome viene dal latino trans Tiberim, significante letteralmente “oltre in Tevere„.

In età repubblicana, le zone vicino al fiume si popolarono di quei lavoratori che avevano a che fare con il fiume, come marinai e pescatori, e ci fu una grande affluenza di immigrati orientali, principalmente ebrei e siriani. Per questo nella zona sorsero alcuni templi di culti orientali
La zona ha cominciato ad essere considerata parte della città sotto Augusto, che divise Roma in 14 regioni (regiones in Latino); l'attuale Trastevere era la quattordicesima ed era chiamata regio transtiberina.

Ancora un'immagine notturna (la parte del giorno che preferisco). Gli edifici di questa zona (Vaticano) hanno grande fascino: sono quasi tutti ex-conventi trasformati in strutture alberghiere.

Decorations

Tradizionalmente questo è il tempo dove, nelle case, vengono tolte le decorazioni di natale. Tutto torna ne nella proprie scatole, pronto per essere usato il prossimo anno. La natura, invece, ha altri tempi, e porterà le sue decorazioni per molti giorni ancora

The Epiphany - La Befana

This is Navona square.
It is still night.
The vendors wait for that make day in order to begin to sell all that one is necessary for the festivity of the Epiphany feast.
According to the tradition the night between the 5 and 6 January an old lady (the Befana) comes down from the sky (to horse of one broom) and door gives to the good children and coal to those bad ...you how!

E' ancora notte.
I venditori aspettano che faccia giorno per iniziare a vendere tutto quello occorre per la festa della Befana.
Secondo la tradizione la notte tra il 5 e il 6 gennaio una vecchia signora (la Befana) scende dal cielo (a cavallo di una scopa) e porta regali ai bambini buoni e carbone a quelli cattivi...come voi!

The Victory... - La Vittoria...

This sculpture golden, with the sword (3,70 mt.), positioned on a tall triumphal column, represents the Victory. Auguries to all for the own small daily victories, those that they count indeed.

Questa scultura dorata, con la spada(3,70 mt.), posizionata su un'alta colonna trionfale, rappresenta la vittoria. Auguri a tutti per le proprie piccole vittorie quotidiane, quelle che contano davvero.

In the XVth century the Margani were often involved in fights with other Roman families. The chronicles of the time report a Paolo Margani killing a Bartolomeo Santacroce in 1446 and another Paolo Margani killing a Prospero Santacroce in 1485. The Santacroce lived very near in their fortified palace and the two families were fierce enemies. The Margani had a fortified house too, embellished with fragments of Roman buildings (Margana tower). Today "Piazza di Tor Margana" is one of the most peaceful squares of Rome.

Questa è la stessa torre, oggi. La piazza prende il nome dalla famiglia Margani.
Nel XV° secolo i Margani furono spesso in lotte con le altre famiglie romane. Le cronache del tempo riportano un Paolo Margani che uccide un Bartolomeo Santacroce in 1446 ed un altro Paolo Margani che uccide un Prospero Santacroce in 1485. I Santacroce vivevano molto vicino nel loro palazzo fortificato e le due famiglie erano fieramente nemiche. I Margani avevano una casa fortificata, abbellita anche con frammenti di edifici romani (Tor Margana). Oggi Piazza Tor Margana è una delle piazze più tranquille di Roma.

I love this atmosphere: the fog, like the snow, wraps every thing, it separates it from the rest of the world and it transports us one only and personal dimension.
Amo quest'atmosfera: la nebbia, come la neve, avvolge ogni cosa, la separa dal resto del mondo e ci trasporta in una dimensione unica e personale.

One particular day - Una giornata particolare

Speaking about film, yesterday, the friend Lucie di “Cergipontin…”, has remembered me a true one masterpiece: “One particular day” (Loren - Mastrianni). The film is acclimatized in a popular courtyard of years '30, and this courtyard, various has remembered me from that one of the film, but similar for age and social extraction.



Parlando di film, ieri, l'amica Lucie di “Cergipontin…”, mi ha ricordato un vero capolavoro: "Una giornata particolare" (Loren - Mastrianni). Il film è ambientato in un cortile popolare degli anni '30, e mi ha ricordato questo cortile,diverso da quello del film, ma simile per epoca ed estrazione sociale.
